Sonbhadra court sentences man to RI for raping daughter
VARANASI: Special Judge, POCSO Act, Amit Veer Singh’s court in Sonbhadra district on Thursday sentenced a man to rigorous life imprisonment for raping his own daughter and making her pregnant. While hearing the case, the court, considering it an extremely serious crime, ordered the guilty father to remain in prison for the rest of his natural life. A fine of Rs 1.50 lakh was also imposed on him. The convict received punishment within 35 days of the framing of charges.According to the prosecution, the victim’s maternal uncle, a resident of the Kon police station area, filed a complaint at Chopan police station on October 27, 2025. In his complaint, he said that his sister died in March 2025. His niece (15) and her 2 brothers lived with their father in a village in the Chopan police station area. The biological father raped his daughter in April 2025.Based on the complaint, Chopan police registered an FIR against the father under section 64(2)F, 65(1) BNS, and 3/4(2), 5N/6 POCSO Act, and started the investigation. After finding sufficient evidence, the investigating officer filed a chargesheet.
The court framed charges on January 7.After listening to arguments from advocates on both sides, statements from 9 witnesses, and examining the case file, the court sentenced the guilty father (33) under the POCSO Act to rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.50 lakh in 35 days. The guilty father was ordered to remain in prison for the rest of his natural life.Circle Officer (City) Randheer Mishra said that, as part of the Operation Conviction campaign for effective action against crimes against women and children and ensuring swift justice in the district, the police conducted a high-quality, impartial, and strong investigation and ensured effective prosecution in court. This verdict is not only a significant achievement in providing swift justice to the victim, but also establishes a strong message in society that no accused involved in crimes against women and children will be allowed to escape the clutches of law.
